We’ve been here at Sivanar Chetty Street for a while now. The shop is at number 16/62. It's a busy spot in Karkana Gugai. Most days start early here. We get the shutters up and start checking what needs doing for the day. It’s mostly just us working through the orders and making sure the fabric looks right. It gets a bit noisy with the machines sometimes, but that’s just how it is. People walk by all the time, heading to work or the market. We don't really do anything fancy. Just sticking to the work at hand. Sometimes the power goes out, and we just sit outside for a bit until it comes back. That's when we usually grab some tea from the stall down the road. It's not a big operation, just a few of us trying to keep things moving. We handle a lot of different pieces throughout the week. The shelves are usually piled high with stock. Cleaning up at the end of the day takes a bit of time because of all the thread and dust. We try to keep things organized but it doesn't always stay that way when we are busy. Gugai is a good place to be for this kind of work. You get used to the pace after a few years. We just keep our heads down and get the job done. It isn't always easy, but it's what we know how to do best.
