Jaya Silks

Our shop, Jaya Silks, is right on Selva Vinayagar Kovil Street at number 16 in Kondalampatty. This area is known throughout the region for its textiles and weaving, and we’ve been a part of that tradition for quite some time now. It’s a family-run kind of place where we keep rolls and stacks of silk piled up all around the room. The street outside can get pretty narrow and busy, especially when delivery trucks are coming in with new stock, but that’s just life in Kondalampatty. We spend our days showing different fabrics and patterns to people who come in looking for something specific for a wedding or a festival. We don't have fancy bright lights or a big showroom with mannequins, just the actual products sitting on the shelves for people to touch and see. It’s a lot of physical work keeping everything sorted by color, weight, and type, but we enjoy the process of handling the fabric. My relatives and I take turns helping customers, and we’ve learned a lot about what people like over the years by just listening to them. We aren't interested in being a big chain store with multiple locations. We just want to sell good silk at fair prices to the people who live around here and the folks who travel into town just for the quality fabrics. It’s a simple business built on being here every day and knowing our inventory inside and out. The shop feels like home to us because we are always here.
