You can find K. J. Fabrics at D. No. 12/6- A on 5th Pulikuthi Street in Gugai. Our shop is tucked away a bit, but it’s always full of different materials. We have rolls of fabric leaning against the walls and stacked on wooden racks. It gets a little cramped when a new shipment arrives, but we find space. Gugai is a busy part of town, and our street is no different. There are always people walking by and scooters zooming past the front door. We have been in this building for many years. It has a high ceiling which helps when it gets hot in the afternoons. Most of our day is spent measuring out cloth and talking to the people who come in looking for specific colors or textures. We don't use a computer for everything; a lot of our notes are still kept in big ledgers. It’s a very hands-on job. Sometimes the dust from the fabric makes us sneeze, but we are used to it by now. The windows are small, so we keep the overhead lights on all day. It’s a modest setup. We don't have a lot of staff, just a few of us who know where every single roll is kept. We try to keep things organized, even if it looks a bit messy to an outsider. It’s just how a fabric shop in Gugai usually looks when you are actually working in it.
