We have been here at No. 30/52- B Devangapuram Extension for a good while now. Shevapet is always a bit crowded, and our spot in the extension isn't much different. S. R. S. Exports is really just a few of us working in a room full of ledgers and some old computers that take forever to start up in the morning. I usually get in around nine, and the first thing is always dealing with the dust that settles on everything overnight. It is a busy place, but not the fancy kind of busy you see in movies. There are mostly just piles of boxes waiting to go somewhere and the constant sound of the fan overhead. The street outside is narrow, so when a truck comes by to pick things up, everything kind of stops for a minute while they navigate the turn. We drink a lot of tea from the stall around the corner. It keeps us going when the paperwork gets too much. There is nothing too special about the building itself, just a regular place where we do our export work. We spend most of our time on the phone or checking lists. Sometimes it feels like we are just moving paper from one side of the desk to the other, but that is how the export business works here. It gets quite hot in the afternoons, especially when the sun hits the front windows, but we just keep the shutters half-down and carry on.
