Arora Iron & Steel Rolling Mills (P) Ltd.

We run a rolling mill up here in Bassi Payhana, in the Fatehgarh Sahib district. It is a very hot and noisy place to work, especially when the furnaces are going full tilt. We spend our days turning iron and steel into different shapes and sizes. It’s the kind of job where you stay dirty from morning until night. There is always the smell of hot metal and grease in the air. Most of the men working here are from around Moh. Behlol Puri, so we all know each other pretty well. We’ve been doing this for a long time and we know how the machines behave, even the ones that are getting a bit old and temperamental. We don't have a fancy front office or anyone to answer the phones with a scripted greeting. You usually have to shout over the noise of the rollers if you want to talk to us. Dealing with steel is heavy and dangerous work, so we have to stay focused. We don't use any big words to describe what we do. We just take the raw material and roll it out. Sometimes the orders are late because a machine breaks down, and we stay late to fix it ourselves. It's just a regular mill in Punjab, nothing more and nothing less.
