At New Light Wooden Articles we spend our days working with wood. Our shop is in Sheopuri Mandi near Pul Kambohan. If you come by you’ll probably hear the saws going before you see us. There is always a lot of sawdust on the floor no matter how many times we sweep it up. We make all kinds of wooden things for people in the area. Some are for houses and some are for other businesses. The wood comes in on big trucks and we have to unload it ourselves. It’s heavy work but it keeps us fit. We’ve been at this spot near the bridge for many years now. The air smells like pine and cedar most of the time. We have a few guys who are really good with their hands and can carve almost anything. We don’t use those big fancy computer machines. Everything is done with hand tools and some old electric ones. It takes longer that way but the results are better. Customers usually come in with a sketch or an idea of what they want. We sit down and talk it through over some tea. It’s a slow process sometimes but we aren't in a hurry. We just want to make sure the wood is treated right and the article lasts a long time. That’s how we do things here.
