Yash Digital Video Lab

We are over at Plot No 88 in Chow Mandi, not too far from Shahid Bhagat School. It’s a lively part of town, and the lab is usually humming with the sound of computers and cooling fans. We’ve been doing digital video work here for quite some time. The space is filled with monitors and hard drives. It’s not the most organized-looking place, but we know exactly where every cable and disk is. We mostly spend our time editing footage or converting old formats into digital files. It’s slow work sometimes, waiting for things to render, so we end up chatting a lot or grabbing a snack from the vendors nearby. The school kids walk past every afternoon, and the noise from the market is just part of our daily background. We don't have a big front desk or a receptionist; usually, you just walk in and one of us will look up from a screen to see what you need. It’s a hands-on kind of job. We take the footage people bring us, whether it’s for a wedding or some old family tapes, and we just do our best to make it look decent. It’s a small operation, just a few of us who enjoy the process of cutting and joining clips together. We like it here in Chow Mandi.
