Mahendra & Sons Engg Works

Mahendra & Sons Engg Works is right across from the Sidcul Power House on Ataria Road. It’s a good spot because everyone knows where the power house is. We are near the City Center too, so there is always something going on around us. My sons and I run the place, and it’s mostly engineering work. We have lathes and welding machines that stay busy throughout the day. The noise can be a bit much sometimes, but you get used to the grinding and clanking after a few weeks. We don’t have a receptionist; if you walk in, you’ll probably just see one of us covered in metal shavings. We take on all sorts of repair jobs for the local factories in the Sidcul area. It’s honest work, and we don’t try to make it sound like more than it is. We’ve been at this same spot for a long time. The roof is corrugated metal, so when it rains, you can’t hear yourself think, but it keeps us dry mostly. We spend a lot of time measuring things and making sure the parts fit right. There is always a pile of scrap metal in the back that we mean to clear out but never quite get to. It’s just how a workshop is supposed to look. We are just local people doing our bit for the neighborhood and trying to keep the machines running for everyone.
