Nagavali Organic Producer Company Limited

We are a group of farmers from around Ambadola and Muniguda in Rayagada. Nagavali Organic is really just a bunch of us coming together to sell what we grow. Being a producer company means we all have a say in how things go. It’s not always easy because everyone has their own opinion on how to plant or when to harvest. We named ourselves after the Nagavali river because it’s the life of this area. Without that water, we wouldn’t have much. Our main spot is in Rayagada, which is a bit of a drive for some of the members. We focus on organic stuff because the old ways of farming were starting to fail us. The soil was getting hard and the birds were disappearing. Now, we see more life in the fields. We don't have a big corporate office with air conditioning. We mostly meet under a tree or in someone’s front room to talk about prices and seeds. It’s a community effort. We struggle with the transport sometimes because the roads through the hills are winding and slow. But we get the goods to where they need to go. We are just regular people in Orissa trying to make sure our families have a future. It’s hard work, but we are doing it together. There’s no boss here, just all of us working the same ground.
