College Of Fisheries

The College Of Fisheries is located out here in Ratnagiri, Maharashtra. Being near the coast makes a lot of sense for what we do. It’s a quiet part of the state, and the 415629 zip code covers a fair bit of ground. We’ve been part of the Ratnagiri landscape for quite some time now. Our campus is where we handle all the lessons and practical work related to fish and water stuff. It’s not a flashy place. The buildings are just standard, practical structures that have seen a lot of use over the years. We spend a lot of our time dealing with the local environment here. Students come from different areas, but many are from right here in Maharashtra. Life at the college is pretty routine. We wake up, get to work, and study the things we need to. It’s a bit of a trek to get here if you’re coming from the big cities, but that’s the nature of being a fisheries college. You need to be where the water is. We don't have any big corporate mission statements or anything like that. We just focus on the fish and the science behind it. The local community knows us well. It’s a down-to-earth place where people just get on with their tasks. There’s always something to do, whether it’s in the labs or out on the field. It feels like a real, working part of Ratnagiri.
