Ajaad Convent School

If you find yourself in Teja Nager, you’ll eventually pass by Ajaad Convent School. We are right here in Ratlam, and the neighborhood is pretty quiet for the most part, except for when the school day begins or ends. The building is painted a simple color and it fits right in with the houses around it. We don’t have a giant campus or anything, just enough space for the kids to move around and for us to hold our classes. Sometimes the water pump acts up or the electricity goes out for an hour, but we just deal with it like everyone else in the area does. It’s a local kind of life. Most of the people working here live nearby, so we see the same faces at the market later in the evening. There is a small tree near the entrance that gives a bit of shade, which is where people usually stand when they are waiting. Inside, it’s mostly just rows of desks and chalkboards. We keep a stack of extra notebooks in the corner for whenever someone forgets theirs. It’s not a polished corporate office; it’s just a school. We spend our time checking homework and making sure the floor is swept at the end of the day. It’s honest work, and we like being part of the Teja Nagar community without needing to be the center of attention all the time.
