Chendra Reddy Ice Plant

If you are heading down Hyderabad Road in Tandur, you will find Chendra Reddy Ice Plant near the Basheer Miya Thanda Kaman. We are located at Sy.No.108. It stays pretty cold inside here because of the big ice blocks we produce. The machinery is old but it works hard. Most of our day is spent handling water and freezing it into those large slabs. People come by with their trucks to pick up ice for keeping food cold or for local shops. It can get quite slippery on the floor, so we have to be careful when we are moving things around. The Kaman is a good landmark for people trying to find us for the first time. Tandur Town is busy, and we feel like a small part of that daily bustle. We don't have a marketing team or anything like that. It’s just us making ice and making sure the power stays on so the blocks don’t melt. Sometimes the machines act up and we have to spend the whole night fixing them. It isn’t a glamorous job, but it is necessary for the town. We just keep the water flowing and the compressors running. You see the same faces every day, and we like the steady rhythm of the work we do here. There's usually a lot of noise from the pumps, but you stop noticing it after an hour. It’s just how the ice business goes.
