Span Art & Signage

We are tucked away at No.52 A, near the old Lower Bazar Thana. To find us, you have to go into Kolal Toli and look for Abdur Rahim Lane near Karbala Chowk. It’s a bit of a maze if you aren't from around here. Our shop is quite old and the walls could probably use a fresh coat of paint, but we’re too busy with the signs to worry about that. We do all sorts of art and signage work. It’s a lot of manual labor, bending metal or cutting boards and painting. The lane is narrow, so we can't have big trucks coming right to the door. We usually have to carry things out to the main road. It keeps us fit, I guess. We’ve been in this part of town for years and we’ve seen the shops around us change many times. We stay the same, mostly. The shop is full of half-finished projects and old brushes. There’s a certain way things smell here—mostly glue and paint thinner. We don't have a big marketing plan. Most of our work comes from people walking by or local businesses that have known us forever. It’s a quiet life in a busy neighborhood. We just take one order at a time and try to get it done properly. If it’s raining, the roof leaks a little in the corner, but we just move the tables. That's our daily life here at the shop.
