About Sankalp Foods & Namkeens – Food & Beverages in Ranchi
If you're looking for us, we’re in Nimchouri, right across from that Bhasakosh Lane. It’s a bit of a maze back there with all the narrow paths. The shop smells like fried flour and spices most of the day, which sticks to your clothes even after you go home. We spend the mornings weighing out the namkeens into plastic bags and sealing them up. My hands always feel a bit oily by the end of the shift. The counter is old wood and has some scratches on it from years of people sliding their change across. We don’t have fancy displays or anything. Most of our stock is just in the big tins we’ve always used. When it rains, the water drips off the awning out front and makes a big puddle right by the step. You have to watch where you walk. We get a lot of older folks from the lane who come in for their afternoon snacks. They usually want to talk for a while. We don't mind, it fills the time. The light in the back room flickers sometimes, and I keep meaning to change the bulb but I always forget. It's a small operation, just a couple of us doing the packing and the selling. We don't do much advertising; people just know we’re here because we’ve been in the same spot forever. It’s just a normal part of the neighborhood life in Nimchouri. We close up when the street gets quiet.
