If you’re walking down Kumar Parha Road near Rajiv Gandhi Chowk, you’ll probably find us without too much trouble. Rajani Spices is right there in the Mother Teressa Ward, not far from the Prayer Tower. It’s a busy little area, and the shop is usually full of the smell of whatever we’ve been grinding that morning. We don’t have a big fancy storefront with neon lights or anything. It’s just a practical space where we keep the bags of spices and the weighing scales. Sometimes the dust from the chili peppers makes everyone sneeze, but that’s just part of the job here. We’ve been at this location for a good while, and the locals know to look for us near the tower. My family helps out with the packing and sorting. It gets loud outside with the traffic from the chowk, but we just keep working through it. We spend a lot of time cleaning the floors because the spice powder gets everywhere. It’s hard work, and your hands end up smelling like cumin for days. We don’t spend much on decorating the place because the spices are the main thing anyway. People come in, get what they need by the kilo or the gram, and we have a quick chat before they head out. It’s a simple life running a shop on Kumar Parha Road, but it keeps us busy from morning until we close the shutters at night. It's just a local shop for us.
