Lal Tutorials

Lal Tutorials is a small place we run in the Kadru area of Ranchi. We don't have a big fancy office or a lot of staff. It is mostly just us teaching the subjects we know best to the students who live nearby. Kadru is a residential spot, so we get a lot of kids who just walk over from their homes. We keep our classes small because that is the only way to make sure everyone is actually paying attention. We spend our evenings going through school textbooks and helping with homework. It is not glamorous work, but it is important for the families here. Sometimes the power goes out and we have to use emergency lights, but the teaching doesn't stop. We have been doing this for several years now and have seen many batches of students come and go. We don't put up big hoardings around the city. Word of mouth works well enough for us. If a kid does well, their parents tell their neighbors, and that is how we get new students. We focus on the basics like math, science, and languages. We are just local teachers trying to help out. Our rooms are filled with books and old notes. It feels like a home because, in many ways, it is for us. We stay here until late in the evening making sure everything is ready for the next day. Sometimes we drink a lot of tea while grading papers.
