Down on Ratu Road, you will find Jiya And Spices Pvt. Ltd. tucked away near the lane that leads to the Shiv Durga Mandir. It is a busy little spot, especially when there is a festival going on at the temple and more people are walking around. Even though we have "Pvt. Ltd." in our name, we are really just a local bunch of people working with spices every day. Our building isn't anything special to look at, but it works for what we need. We spend a lot of our time inside, away from the heat, sorting through different types of spices. The smell inside the shop is very strong, usually a mix of turmeric and chili, which stays on your clothes even after you go home. We have a few machines that we use, and they can be quite loud when they are all running together. Sometimes we have to shout a bit to hear each other over the noise. We don't have any big slogans or missions. We just show up in the morning, open the doors, and start working on whatever needs to be packed. It’s a lot of manual work, moving bags around and making sure the weights are correct on the scale. Most of our neighbors know us well by now. We just like to keep things straightforward and honest without trying to sound bigger than we actually are.
