Hindalco Industries Ltd.

We are located in the Hindalco Colony in Chotamuri, near Ranchi. If you’ve ever been to Muri, you know it’s a town that basically exists because of the industrial work here. Our office is at B1 in the colony. It’s a quiet spot, surrounded by the houses where most of the workers live. You can see the tall chimneys from the plant standing out against the sky. The air always has a bit of a metallic smell to it, which is just part of living in an industrial town. We handle the day-to-day administrative stuff for the unit. It’s a lot of checking lists and managing the local staff issues. It’s not a high-pressure corporate environment. We know each other’s families and what’s happening in the neighborhood. The work is important, of course, but it’s done with a sense of community. Sometimes the monkeys from the nearby trees come onto the porch and we have to shoo them away. It’s just a regular part of the day here in Jharkhand. We don't have fancy coffee machines; we just make some tea on a small stove in the back. It’s a humble setup, but it serves us well. We’ve been part of this landscape for a long time, and we just keep doing our bit to keep the wheels turning.
