Gautam Classes

Gautam Classes is situated on Ratu Road in Ranchi. It is a small establishment that has been around for some time. We occupy a few rooms in a building that faces the main road, so it is easy for students to find us after they get off the bus. The interior is quite basic. We have some sturdy benches and a large chalkboard that we use every single day. There is no air conditioning, just the ceiling fans that hum all day long. We start our sessions early in the morning before the sun gets too hot. A lot of the students who come here are from families nearby. We don't use any fancy technology or complicated software for our teaching. It is mostly just reading through textbooks and solving problems on paper. We keep our overhead low so that we can keep things accessible for the local kids. Our cupboards are full of old textbooks that have been passed down through different groups of students. The atmosphere is very informal; we know most of the students by their first names. On rainy days, the roof sometimes leaks a little near the window, but we just move the desks and keep going. It is a very ordinary place where a lot of hard work happens behind the scenes. We like the routine and the busy feeling of the classroom when it is full.
