Chashm -E- Shahi

This spot is right on Kanke Road, sitting directly opposite Vidyapathi Nagar here in Ranchi. The 834001 area is a place we know very well because we’ve spent so many hours here. Running a restaurant isn't always easy, especially with the competition around, but we just stick to what we know and keep our heads down. The morning starts with getting the supplies delivered and checking that the kitchen is ready to go. We have a simple setup with tables that have seen plenty of use. We aren't interested in being the trendiest place in town. We just want to be the place where you can get a solid meal without any trouble. The staff here is like a small family, even when we have arguments about how things should be done. We keep the doors open through the afternoon heat and late into the evening. You can hear the sounds of Kanke Road outside, which never really seems to go quiet at any hour. We try to keep the atmosphere relaxed so people don't feel rushed while they are eating. It’s a plain, honest kind of place. We don't use any complicated recipes or weird ingredients that nobody knows. It’s just food that people in Ranchi are familiar with. We’re glad to be part of the neighborhood and we plan on staying here as long as we can. It's just a regular day-to-day job for us and we're okay with that.
