Municipal Girls Higher Secondary School

Municipal Girls Higher Secondary School has been in Velipattanam for a long time. Being in Ramanathapuram, it gets very hot during the summer, so we try to keep the windows open for the breeze. This is a big school for the girls in this area. You can see the students walking in groups through the streets of Velipattanam every morning. The building is older, with high ceilings and heavy wooden doors that have been there forever. We do not have fancy computers in every room, but the classrooms are full of students who want to learn. The teachers sit in a crowded room with lots of notebooks piled up on the tables. During the public exams, things get very serious and quiet, but otherwise, the hallways are quite loud during the breaks. There is a lot of dust because of the dry weather here, so we are always dusting off the benches. The girls play in the open area behind the main building when the sun is not too strong. It is a government-run place, so we follow the usual rules and schedules. Parents come in for meetings and we talk about their daughters’ marks. It is a practical environment. We focus on getting through the syllabus and making sure everyone is ready for their finals. Life here is simple and moves at its own pace in this part of town.
