Costal Foods

If you head down to West Street in the Mandapam area of Ramnad District, you’ll find us at 6/61C. Costal Foods is tucked away here, not far from the water. Being in Mandapam means we deal with a lot of heat and salt in the air. The building is solid enough, though the sea air does a number on the metal parts over time. We handle different kinds of food products, mostly stuff that comes from around here. It’s not a high-tech facility. We use our hands a lot and there’s plenty of heavy lifting. The family stays involved in the day-to-day stuff. You’ll often find one of us sweeping the front step or checking the inventory in the back. We don't have a big marketing department or anyone to write fancy speeches. We just talk to the suppliers and the drivers who come through. Sometimes the power goes out and we just have to sit and wait it out, maybe have a cold drink. The street is usually dusty and there’s always someone passing by on a motorbike. We like being part of the Ramnad community. It’s a tough environment sometimes, but it’s home. We don't make a big fuss about what we do. We just keep the gates open and keep the food moving to where it needs to go.
