That’s a pretty long name on the sign, Spoorthy Organic Farmers Producer Company Limited, but we just think of it as the office on Mahatma Gandhi Road. We’re located at 2-39-417 in Kanakapura. It’s a good spot because a lot of folks pass through here on their way to the market. We work with a lot of local farmers, so there’s always someone coming in with a question or a sample of something they’ve grown. The office is basically just a big room with some sturdy tables and a lot of folders. We don't have any air conditioning, just the big ceiling fans that click while they spin. It gets a bit loud when everyone is talking at once, especially on the days when we have meetings. Kanakapura has changed a lot over the years, but our corner of Mahatma Gandhi Road stays pretty much the same. We try to keep things simple and honest. We don't use any of those big words you see in advertisements. We just talk about the soil and the crops and how to get things to the buyers. Sometimes we run out of tea or the electricity goes out for an hour, but we just sit on the porch and wait it out. It’s a community thing more than anything else. We’re just here to help the local producers get their stuff sorted out.
