You can find Kanakapura Organic Producer Company out in Yerandappanahalli, which is part of the Kodihalli Hobli area in Kanakapura Taluk. We are operating out of Basavaraju H M’s place. It’s much quieter out here than in the city, which suits the kind of work we do with organic farming. We spend most of our time talking to the local farmers and seeing how the crops are coming along. It isn't a typical office setup. Often, we are just meeting under a tree or in the front room to discuss the next harvest. The roads out here aren't always the best, especially when it rains, but we make it work. We started this because the farmers in our area needed a way to get their organic produce to market without too many middlemen. It’s a lot of coordination and simple record-keeping on paper or on the old laptop we have. We don't have any marketing experts or a sales team. It's just us, the producers, trying to make a living and keep the soil healthy. Sometimes we have to drive quite a bit to visit the different fields. It’s a slow process, building something like this, but we prefer it that way. We know everyone’s name and whose farm is doing what this season. It’s a community effort more than anything else. We just focus on the plants and the people who grow them.
