Suraj Marble

Our yard is situated out on NH8 in Kankroli, specifically in the Navbhar Colony area. Being right on the highway means we get a lot of dust from the passing trucks. It is a constant battle to keep the stone clean so people can see the colors properly. We have been working with marble for years. It is a tough business with a lot of heavy lifting. We have a crane for the big slabs but a lot of the smaller work is done by hand. The sun beats down on the highway all day, making the stone hot. We often throw a bucket of water on the slabs to show the true grain and shine. Navbhar Colony is a good spot for us because people know where to find us easily. We don't have a polished office with air conditioning. We just have a small desk and some chairs. Most of the time we are walking around the yard with customers. We have all sorts of marble, some local and some from further away. Every batch that comes in is a little bit different. You never really know what the inside of a block looks like until it is cut. That is the mystery of the stone business. We just try to provide what we have and keep the orders moving. It is a simple life on the highway, just working with stone.
