R S R K Marbles Ltd is based in Rajsamand, specifically out at Karjiya Ghati, number 124. This part of Rajasthan is famous for stone, so it made sense for us to be here. We spend our time around large slabs of marble all day long. It is heavy, dusty work and the machines for cutting the stone are quite loud. We see a lot of different blocks coming in from the quarries nearby. Some have more veins, some are whiter, and every single piece is a bit different from the last one. We do not really do much in the way of fancy advertising. Most people find us because they need stone for their floors or kitchen counters and they know this area is the place to get it. The yard is usually quite full of inventory. It takes a lot of effort to move these pieces without cracking them. We have a crew that has been doing this for years, so they know the weight of the stone just by looking at the size. It is a straightforward business. We cut the stone to size and wait for the trucks to come pick it up for delivery. Living and working in Rajsamand means we are right in the middle of the marble trade. It is not a glamorous job, but there is something satisfying about seeing a rough block turned into a smooth surface. We just keep our heads down.
