Out here in Rajsamand, specifically on the Kelwa-Amet Road in Baman Tukda, the landscape is mostly stone. We set up shop here because it’s close to where the material actually comes from. It’s a bit of a drive from the main city, but we have more space to spread out our inventory. The road gets pretty busy with tractors and heavy machinery moving between the different units. We mostly deal with the larger blocks and slabs that people need for big projects. My brother and I run the daily operations, and we usually start work before the sun is fully up to beat the midday heat. The yard is quite large, so walking from the office to the back where the latest shipment is sitting takes a few minutes. We don’t have fancy uniforms or a reception area. Most of the time, I’m out there with the workers, checking the quality of the stone as it comes off the saw. Sometimes the stone has cracks we didn’t see at first, and that can be frustrating, but that’s just how natural material is. We spend a lot of time talking to the truck drivers who bring the blocks in. They always have stories from the road. It’s a straightforward business and we just try to keep things moving so the yard doesn't get too cluttered with old stock.
