Shree Janki Marbles

We've been at this spot on 100 Feet Road for a while now. It's right across from the new collectorate office. Most people know us because it's a busy part of Kankroli. My family runs this marble business from Janki Kunj in Shri Ram Nagar. We spend our days dealing with different types of stone. Sometimes it's busy with trucks coming in and out, and other days we're just sitting here waiting for the next customer to walk through the door. It isn't a fancy office, just a practical space where we get work done. We handle the loading and unloading ourselves most of the time. When people come by, they usually just want to see what's in stock. We show them around the yard, talk about the different slabs, and figure out the transport. It's hard work, especially when the sun is beating down on the yard. We try to keep things organized but stone takes up a lot of room. If you're driving down towards the collectorate, you'll see us. It’s just how we make a living. Nothing too complicated about it. We’ve seen the neighborhood change quite a bit since we started. The road is much busier now. We just keep doing what we know, which is moving marble from one place to another and making sure the cuts are decent for whoever is buying. It's just a regular local shop where we spend our time working.
