Shree Gajanan Marble

Out on the Badarda Nathdwara Road, we have our place called Shree Gajanan Marble. It is a bit of a drive for some, but it is a good spot for a stone yard. There is plenty of room for the big trucks to turn around, which makes things easier for the drivers. Most days it is just us out here among the stacks of marble. We don't have a lot of staff, just enough to get the work done and load the vehicles. The stone comes in from different places and we just sort it out by size and how it looks. It is honest work. We aren't trying to be the biggest place around, just a steady one. People come by when they are building a house or a shop near Nathdwara. We show them what we have on the ground at that moment. Sometimes they like it, sometimes they look elsewhere. That's just how it goes in this business. The road can get busy during the pilgrimage season, so we see a lot of traffic then. We keep the yard open and just keep working through the piles. It gets hot in the summer, but we have a bit of shade under the tin roof where we keep the smaller pieces. It’s a decent life, working with your hands and dealing with the stone every day. We just take it one load at a time and keep things moving.
