Down here in Rajsamand, specifically in the Badarda area, things stay pretty busy with all the stone moving around. Sanskar Marbles Pvt Ltd is just one of the many yards you will find if you drive through here. The ground is mostly white from all the scrap and dust that comes off the blocks. We spend a lot of our time just watching the weather and hoping the rain doesn't turn the yard into a muddy mess. Moving these heavy marble blocks is no small task and we have to be careful every time the machinery starts up. It gets loud when the saws are running nearby, but you get used to the noise after a few weeks. People come by asking about different types of stone and we show them what we have piled up. There is no air conditioning out in the main yard so we stay under the shade when we can. Badarda is a place where everyone understands the value of hard work. We have been sitting on this plot of land for a long time. The trucks come in early in the morning and sometimes they are still unloading when the sun goes down. It is a simple setup, nothing too grand, just plenty of marble and the tools needed to get it where it needs to go. We keep the gates open and just get on with the work day after day. Working with marble is all we have known for many years now.
