Our place is on the Kelwa-Amet Road, right in the Gugli area. Samta Marbles Pvt. Ltd. is where we spend our days. The road outside can get pretty quiet compared to the main highway, but there is still plenty of movement. We deal with a lot of marble slabs here. Every day involves moving things around and making sure the stacks are safe. It is physical work, and your hands get rough after a while. The ground is mostly white from all the marble dust that settles over everything. We have our routines, starting early and winding down when the sun goes behind the hills. Gugli isn't a huge place, so we know most of the folks who drive past. Sometimes the trucks arrive late and we have to stay to get them unloaded. It can be tiring, but that is the business we are in. We don't spend much time in the office because the real work happens outside among the stone. The slabs come in various sizes and we just line them up. Some days are hotter than others, and the wind can blow the dust right into your face. We just use a bit of water to keep it down. There isn't anything fancy about how we run things. We just show up and handle the stone. It’s been this way for a long time. The Kelwa-Amet stretch has a lot of businesses like ours, so we are used to the rhythm of the stone trade.
