S. P. Marbles

You’ll find S. P. Marbles situated on N.H. 8 in the Suket area of Udaipur. This part of the country is famous for its stone, so we are right in the middle of it all. Our yard is where we spend almost all our time. We aren’t the kind of people who like sitting behind a desk or doing paperwork all day. We’d rather be out there moving the marble and checking the finish on the slabs to see how they look. It’s a grit-and-grind type of job, and we don't pretend it's anything else. The sun in Udaipur can be really harsh, so we do a lot of our heavy work in the early morning hours before it gets too hot to move. We have a few pieces of machinery to help with the heavy stuff, but a lot of it is still manual labor and sweat. We don't have any polished brochures or corporate slogans to show you. If you come by, you’ll see us in our work clothes, probably busy with a delivery or unloading a fresh batch of stone that just arrived. We get all types of customers, from people building their first small home to contractors working on big projects in the city. We just show them the stacks we have and let them pick what they like. It’s a humble setup, but it’s ours and we are proud of it. We’ve worked hard to keep this place going on the highway. It’s a lot of noise, but it's home.
