We are situated in Pasoond, right along the N. H. 8 highway. This part of the road is famous for stone, so there is always something happening. Our yard is pretty big, but it still feels crowded when a new shipment of marble blocks arrives. The cranes are usually the loudest thing you’ll hear if you visit. We spend most of the day walking around the slabs with a measuring tape and a piece of chalk. It’s a bit of a grind, especially during the summer months when the stone gets really hot to touch. We have a small crew of guys who handle the cutting and the loading. It’s not a fancy operation by any means. There’s a lot of grease, water, and stone dust everywhere you look. We just try to keep the slabs in good shape while they are sitting here. Sometimes the power goes out and everything stops, which is just part of being out here. We deal with all sorts of people, from big builders to guys just looking for a few pieces for a kitchen. It’s mostly about making sure the truck leaves on time and the weight is right. We don't spend much time on fancy talk. We just show people what we have in the yard and let them decide. It’s a practical way to run things, and it keeps us busy enough.
