Milan Marble

Milan Marble is out at Bhagwanda, right on the side of N.H. 8. It’s a stretch of road where you see a lot of these yards. We have a decent sized space where we keep all our stock. Usually, it’s just a few of us on site. We start early in the morning before the heat gets too bad. Working out here in Bhagwanda, you get to see a lot of people passing through on the highway. Some are just travelers, but most are looking for stone for their houses or projects. We don't have a big sales pitch. We just show them what is available in the stacks. Sometimes we have some really nice pieces, and other times it’s just the standard stuff that everyone uses. The work is mostly just moving things from one side of the yard to the other. We use a crane for the big stuff because you can't move these slabs by hand. It’s a bit of a slow process sometimes. We sit under the tree near the entrance when there aren't any customers. We talk about the weather or the price of diesel. It’s a very normal way to spend the day. The yard is dusty and the noise from the trucks on N.H. 8 never really stops. But we like it here. It’s our own little spot and we have been doing this for years now. Not much changes from one month to the next around this part of the highway.
