Kothari Marble Industries

We are based in Badarda, a place where stone is pretty much the main thing everyone talks about. Kothari Marble Industries started out small and we’ve stayed that way for the most part. We don’t have a lot of big corporate rules or fancy uniforms. We just show up and get to work on the stone. The yard is usually a bit of a mess with scraps and water from the cutters, but that is just part of the industry. We handle a lot of local marble, and the guys working the saws have a real feel for it. They can tell if a block is going to be good just by looking at the outside. We have our slow days and our busy days, like any other small business. When it’s busy, everyone is helping to load the trucks and nobody really cares whose job it is. We drink a lot of tea and talk about the weather or how the local market is doing. We don’t spend money on big advertisements. Word of mouth works well enough for us in this town. People know where we are and they know what kind of work we do. It’s a simple life, focused on the slabs and the machines. We just try to do a decent job so that we can keep the doors open for another year. It’s not complicated, just hard work and being around stone all day.
