Karishma Marble & Granite

Our place is right on N. H. 8 in Pasoond. Being on the highway means there is always noise from the trucks and cars zooming past our gate. It makes it easy for people to find us, though, since everyone uses this road. We have a lot of marble and granite sitting out in the yard. It’s a big open space because those slabs take up a lot of room once you lay them out to show people. The sun hits the white marble and it can be really bright in the middle of the day. We spend most of our time loading and unloading the stone. It’s not a job for someone who doesn't like heavy lifting and long hours. Sometimes a truck driver will pull over just to ask for directions or get a glass of water from our tank. We don't mind the company. We have a small office room where we keep the books, but mostly we are outside in the yard. The ground is covered in stone chips and grit that gets into your shoes. When it rains, the yard gets a bit muddy and we have to be careful with the forklifts so they don't get stuck. We just handle the stone as it comes in from the quarries. Some days are slow and we just tidy up the stacks, and other days three trucks show up at once. It is just how things go here. We’ve got a routine down and the workers have been doing this for a long time.
