India Marble

We’ve been here at Badarda on N. H. 8 for quite some time now. It’s mostly just us and the stone slabs day in and day out. If you drive past, you'll see India Marble right by the road. It gets pretty dusty out here, especially when the wind picks up off the highway. We spend most of our mornings moving things around with the crane. Sometimes the sun is really beating down on the marble, making it hot to touch, but that is just part of the job. It's not a fancy place. We have a small office where we sit when the paperwork needs doing or when we just need a break from the noise. People stop by, usually looking for something specific for their floors or a small project. We show them what’s in the yard, let them walk around the blocks, and talk about the price. There’s no big sales pitch here. We just show what we have in stock and if it works for you, then good. My clothes are usually covered in white dust by noon. It's hard work, lifting and checking the slabs for cracks or weird spots. We've seen a lot of changes on this stretch of N. H. 8 over the years, but the stone business stays pretty much the same. We just keep the yard open and wait for the next truck to arrive or someone to pull in.
