Inani Marbles (India)

We are located out on N.H. 8 in the Bhagwandas area. It is a bit of a trek for some, but the highway makes it easy enough to find us. Our business revolves around the marble we keep in our large yard. It’s a lot of stone to keep track of. We spend most of our time out there in the elements, whether it’s the baking heat or the rain. The marble comes in from the quarries and we have to sort through it to see what we have. It’s an honest way to spend the day, even if it is physically draining. We don’t go in for big speeches or polished sales pitches. We just let the marble sit there and if someone likes the look of a particular piece, we figure out how to get it to them. There’s a certain rhythm to the work here, with the cranes moving and the trucks idling by the gate. We’ve been doing this for a long time and we know the stone well. It’s heavy, it’s cold to the touch, and every piece is a little bit different from the last one. We just try to stay on top of the inventory and keep the yard in some kind of order. It’s not a fancy life, but it’s ours, and we’re here every day.
