Chayanika Marble

We are over in Piparda, right on the side of N. H. 8. At Chayanika Marble, our day usually starts with checking what came in on the trucks overnight. The yard is tucked away but easy enough to find if you’re looking for it. It’s mostly just a bunch of stone slabs standing in rows. We spend a lot of time walking between them, checking for marks or just making sure they aren't tipping. It can be quite loud when the cutting is going on or when a crane is moving. We don't have fancy brochures or a website that looks like a magazine. We just have the stone. Some days are slow and we just sit outside watching the traffic go by on the highway. Other days, it’s constant loading and unloading. We know the stone pretty well since we've been around it so much. If someone asks for a specific color, we usually know exactly which pile it's in. It’s a bit messy with all the stone scraps and dust everywhere, but that’s a stone yard for you. We just try to be fair and keep the business moving. The sun hits the white marble in the afternoon and it can be blinding, so we wear hats most of the time. It’s a simple life, working with what the ground gives us and meeting different people every day who need something for their house.
