Down here at Aanuradha Stonex Pvt. Ltd., the days are pretty long and the sun is usually beating down on the yard. We are located near the dumping yard in Village Jetpura, which is out in the Kunwariya area. It’s a quiet spot compared to the big cities, but there is always a lot of noise from the machines. We deal with a lot of stone here, mostly stuff that comes straight from the ground nearby. Being in a village like Jetpura means everyone knows everyone. My family has been around this part of Tehsil Amet for a long time. The office isn't much to look at, just a place to sit and do the paperwork while the cutters are running outside. We get a lot of trucks coming through because of the dumping yard being so close, so the roads stay pretty rough. Sometimes it rains and the whole place gets muddy, which makes moving the heavy blocks a real pain. We just get on with it, though. You learn how to tell the quality of a stone just by looking at the grain after a few years of doing this. It isn't easy work, and it’s definitely not clean, but it feels good to see the finished slabs ready to go. We usually close up when it starts getting dark and head back into the main part of the village. It is a basic life, but we are used to it.
