V. Ravikumar & Co. is based out of B-59 in the Marketing Yard. If you’ve ever been to a marketing yard, you know it’s not a place for sleeping in. We are usually here very early, sometimes before the sun is even up, getting ready for the day’s trade. Our unit, B-59, is where we handle the stocks and meet with the people we do business with. It’s a very practical environment with lots of crates and bags everywhere. We don't have time for a lot of talk that doesn't lead anywhere. People come here to buy and sell, and we are the ones in the middle making sure it happens properly. The yard is always full of trucks and tractors, and the noise is constant. It can be a bit chaotic during the peak seasons, but we’ve got a rhythm down that works for us. My team and I just focus on the numbers and making sure the goods are moving as they should. We don't have a fancy lobby or air conditioning in the main area. It’s just a workspace meant for hard work. We've seen a lot of people come and go over the years, but we’ve stayed right here. It’s a tough business sometimes, depending on the harvest and the prices, but we just take it one day at a time. That’s how we’ve always done it at the yard.
