Our office is number C-42 inside the Marketing Yard. If you’ve ever been to a marketing yard, you know it’s not the quietest place to work. There are trucks coming and going at all hours, and people yelling out prices and orders across the lots. We’ve been M. A. Patel & Co. for a long time, and this office has seen a lot of history. The walls are a bit faded, and the desks are old heavy wood that’s been scratched up over the years. We spend our days dealing with a lot of papers, ledgers, and phone calls. It’s busy work, especially during the peak seasons when the yard is full of produce and goods. We start early, usually when the first trucks arrive, and we don't leave until the last of the paperwork is filed away. It’s a lot of routine, but we don’t mind it. We have our regulars who come in for a chat and a glass of water while they wait for their loads to be processed. We don’t have a big marketing team or a fancy website. Most of what we do is based on the relationships we’ve built with traders and farmers over the decades. It’s a practical business in a practical place. We just try to keep things moving as smoothly as possible in the middle of all the yard’s chaos.
