You can find us in Deep Complex which is on Janakpuri Main Road. This area, around University Road, has a lot of energy. There are students from the university and families living in the nearby blocks. The shop is straightforward. We have the mirrors lined up and the chairs are the kind that can tilt back. I usually get here early to open the shutters. The light comes in through the front window in the afternoon and hits the floor. It’s a small space, so we have to stay organized or it becomes a mess of bottles and towels. Speaking of towels, there is always a load of laundry to do. I use a simple soap for the floors. People come in with all sorts of requests for their hair or skin. Most of the time, they just want something that looks decent and is easy to manage. We don’t have a big staff, just a couple of us working. We listen to the radio sometimes, or just talk to the customers about their families. It’s a neighborhood spot where you don't feel out of place. The Janakpuri road can get a bit clogged with parked bikes, but that’s just part of being in Rajkot. We’ve seen the complex change over the years, new shops coming and going, but we’re still here doing our thing every day at Shubham Beauty Salon. It's honest work and it keeps us busy from morning to night.
