R.P. Sarees

R.P. Sarees is right on the Gundawadi Main Road. It’s a very busy street, and there is always something going on outside our front door. We spend a lot of time just standing behind the counter or folding things back up after someone has looked through them. The shop isn't huge, so we have to use every bit of shelf space we have. Sometimes the stacks get so high we need a ladder to reach the top ones. We’ve been on this road for a long time, so we’ve seen shops come and go. Our routine is pretty much the same every day. Open up, sweep the front, and start organizing the stock. We don't spend money on fancy decorations. The products themselves provide enough color for the whole place. Customers come in and out, some just to look and some who know exactly what they want. We talk to them like neighbors because most of them are. It gets pretty hot in the afternoons, so we keep the fans going at full speed. There’s always a bit of tea being shared in the back room when things quiet down for a few minutes. It’s a simple life running a shop on Gundawadi Main Road. We just try to keep things moving and make sure everyone gets what they need without too much fuss. It is a lot of work, but we are used to it.
