Mayur Patola Art

Our place, Mayur Patola Art, is located right behind the Virani High School in the Sarvodaya Society area. We are in society number 4, and it is a fairly quiet neighborhood for the most part. You can often hear the school bell ringing or the kids playing during their breaks, but otherwise, it is just the sound of us working. The space inside is quite cramped because we have so many threads and different materials stored in every available cupboard and corner. We do not have a big storefront with bright lights. Instead, it feels more like a workshop where things happen at a slower, more careful pace. Usually, you will find one of us sitting by the window to get the best sunlight for checking the colors and the patterns. It is a lot of sitting and a lot of staring at fine details, which can be tiring for the eyes after a few hours. We do not have any marketing people or a fancy sales pitch. If you come by, you will likely see us with thread stuck to our clothes and a half-finished cup of tea on the table. It is a family-style environment where we just focus on the traditional work we have been doing for years. We do not worry much about the latest trends or making the place look like a showroom. We just care about getting the patterns right and making sure the work is solid before it goes out.
