Raj Hair Line

If you know where Swaminarayan Chowk is in Rajkot, then you probably know where Raj Hair Line is. We are in Shop No.5 at Mazda Apartment. It's right opposite Ronak Coldrinks, which is handy when it gets hot in the summer and you want something cold. This whole area of Ambaji Kadva Plot is always moving. I’ve spent a lot of years looking out of this shop window at the bikes and cars passing by. It’s a bit of a tight squeeze in the apartment complex sometimes, but we make it work. The shop itself is simple. We have the usual mirrors and chairs. I think my favorite part of the day is the morning before it gets too noisy outside. People come in for a quick trim or a shave before they head to work. We get all sorts here, from young kids who can't sit still to the older men who have been living in Rajkot for seventy years. Sometimes we talk about cricket, sometimes it's just about the weather or how much the prices of things are going up. We don’t have any fancy signs or big flashing lights. Just Raj Hair Line on the door. It’s been our spot for a long time and we are used to the rhythm of this street. Being opposite a cold drink shop helps bring people over too. We just do our work and go home.
