Polytech Paints

Down here at Polytech Paints in the Aji GIDC area, things are always a bit colorful, and by that, I mean there is paint on almost every surface including our clothes. We are located at Mascot, A 2/10, right across from the Basic Training Center in Phase 1 of Rajkot. The weather can get really hot, and when you are mixing batches of paint or moving heavy drums around, you definitely feel it. Our floor is covered in old spills and marks from years of work. We aren't trying to be a fancy showroom; we are a production unit. Most of our time is spent checking the consistency of the mixes and making sure the orders are ready for the trucks that come by in the evening. There is a specific smell that stays with you even after you go home, a mix of resins and thinners, but you get used to it after a week. Sometimes the machines are loud and you have to shout to be heard over the mixers. We have a small desk for the bills, but it’s usually buried under some sample cards or order sheets. It’s a small team, so everyone does a bit of everything, from loading the crates to checking the lids are tight. It’s hard work, and your hands are never really clean, but it’s what we do here in our corner of Gujarat.
