Maruti Nandan Hair Art is located on Alka Society Main Road, just off Pedak Road. We’re right near the Gaytri Motor Service, so you can often hear the sound of engines or tools from next door. It’s a lively part of Rajkot. The shop is a typical local hair art place. We have the tall chairs and the rows of combs and scissors. It’s nothing fancy to look at from the outside, but it gets the job done. We’ve been here for a while and we know the rhythms of the street. Pedak Road is usually humming with people going about their business. Inside, we have a couple of fans going to keep the air moving, especially when it gets hot in the afternoons. We don’t have a big staff, just a few of us who know how to handle the shears. We don't use any fancy language to describe a haircut. You come in, you sit down, and we cut your hair. It’s a practical place. We try to keep the magazines on the table updated, but they usually end up being a few months old. The mirrors are large and we try to keep them clear of dust. It’s a simple life, working here and seeing the same faces every week. We don’t need much else besides our tools and some decent light to work by.
