Olympic Textile Printery

Down on Jetpur Station Road, right opposite the Panjra Pole, you’ll find us at Olympic Textile Printery. Jetpur is known for its textiles, and we’ve been part of that for quite a while. Our day starts early with mixing dyes and getting the fabric ready for printing. The air always smells a bit like chemicals and wet cloth. It’s a messy job, and our aprons are covered in every color you can think of. We use these big screens and rollers to put patterns on the cloth. It takes a lot of patience to get the colors just right. The building is older, but it serves us well. We don’t have much space for a big office, so the desks are basically right next to where the drying happens. It can get quite humid in here when the steam is going. We’re just a small crew of people who grew up around this industry. Most of us learned how to print from our fathers or uncles. We don’t do anything too fancy, just the standard prints that people in the market are looking for. On some days, the whole floor is covered in long strips of colorful fabric waiting to be rolled up. It’s a lot of physical labor, moving the heavy rolls around, but we’re used to it. It’s just how things are done here in Jetpur and we're happy doing it.
