Jethawani Children Hospital

You can find us over at Guru Prasad Chowk, which is right near the H J Doshi Hospital. Being so close to the big hospital makes it easy to explain our location to people who aren't from this neighborhood. Jethawani Children Hospital is specifically for the little ones, so it stays pretty loud in here most days. Between the babies crying and the older kids running up and down the hallway, there is rarely a quiet moment. We have a few crates of toys in the corner to keep them busy, but they usually end up scattered across the floor. The walls have some colorful stickers on them to try and make the place look less scary for the children who are nervous. I’ve been working here since the day we opened our doors. Guru Prasad Chowk is a really busy intersection, so you can always hear the horns and traffic from the street outside. We deal with all the usual stuff like vaccinations, stomach aches, and those feverish nights parents worry about. It’s a lot of work keeping up with all the different files and schedules. The parents are usually more stressed than the kids are, so we spend time just talking to them. It’s a practical place without any fancy art on the walls. The waiting area has just enough chairs on a normal day, though Mondays can be a bit of a squeeze. We know most families around here quite well. It's just what we do.
